TWO Tom Naylor own goals and a penalty gave Morecambe a shock win at Rodney Parade.

Newport County AFC started superbly and were ahead after just three minutes thanks to a thunderbolt from new signing Billy Jones.

Naylor's first own goal came on 12 minutes before Robbie Willmott's strike on 24 minutes looked to have set the Exiles on the road to three points.

But Naylor headed beyond Pidgeley on 57 minutes and then brought down Kevin Ellison in the box with 20 minutes remaining and Padraig Amond sealed the win for the Shrimps.

County manager Justin Edinburgh said: "It's very disappointing. We've been punished for indecisive play in our final third.

"We created lots of chances today, but if you give goals away like that it's going to be hard to win games. You don't deserve anything out of a game if you give those types of goal away.

"It's been one of those days. He's [Tom Naylor] been excellent for us since he's arrived.

"Everything that could go wrong went wrong today. Good players bounce back and get stronger from that and I have no doubt that's what he'll do because he's a very good player."
