CWMBRAN Harriers under-13s athlete Ewan Rosser is hanging up his spikes for the winter after a remarkable summer of success.
The 12-year-old Abersychan School pupil will concentrate on playing football for Fairfield over the next few months but he'll be hard pressed to match his achievements on the track.
Rosser, who has been training with Cwmbran Harriers since he was nine, won gold in the 100m, 200m and long jump in the under-13 boys category at the Welsh Championships.
He also won the 60m and 200m at the Welsh Indoor Championships and picked up a host of record times along the way.
At the Les Davies Cup event in Hereford earlier this month Rosser ran a Welsh under-13 record of 12.18 seconds for the 100m, breaking the record of 12.5 seconds that had stood since 1975.
At the same event he also broke the 200m record with a time of 25.24 seconds and he brought that down to 25.23 at the South East Wales Plate Final in Brecon.
He's now ranked second in the UK for his age group in the 100m and fourth in the 200m.
"We're very proud of what Ewan has achieved," said dad Lee, whose older son Jared has played rugby for the Wales under-16s side.
"He's been working hard and a lot of credit has to go to his coach David Norton as well.
"He'll be concentrating on football now before moving up to under-15s with the athletics next summer, which will be a good test for him."
