NEWPORT County AFC have announced a deal that allows them to continue to train at the Cardiff University Sport Fields in Llanrumney for the next two years.
Stuart Vanstone, Cardiff University’s head of sport, said: “We are delighted to have hosted Newport County at Cardiff University’s training facilities for last season.
“To mark their return to the football league and the need for excellent training facilities we have signed a new agreement that will see the County’s first-team use our training facilities and pitches for the next two seasons.
“As part of this new agreement Justin Edinburgh has kindly agreed to bring his team to play Cardiff University students first team as we prepare for our season.
“We think this is a real win-win for both us and Newport County,” he added.
"Our students get a once in a lifetime chance to test their skills against professional players, while Newport County players get a chance to try and catch their manager’s eye and secure a first team place."
The game is being played to launch the partnership between Cardiff University and Newport County AFC with the University becoming the club's official training ground partner.
Exiles boss Edinburgh said: “We are delighted to be entering into this agreement. The facilities for training at Llanrumney are as good as any at this level and it is an excellent base for us to work from.
“We are pleased to have secured this for at least the next two years.”
