WHILE Samit Patel has fired a warning that Glamorgan won’t be able to come close to an in-form Nottinghamshire, Simon Jones is happy to adopt a more serene approach to Saturday’s Lord’s final.

The two counties clash at the home of cricket for the Yorkshire Bank 40 trophy (11.30am start) with the Outlaws starting as favourites.

Former England one-day spinner Patel certainly sees it that way, declaring: “If we play the way we want to play I can't see them living with us.”

But the underdog tag is one that doesn’t faze Glamorgan, who were unfancied ahead of their semi-final victory against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

And there is a quiet confidence in the camp according to Jones, who will play his final first-class game at Lord’s before becoming a Twenty20 specialist.

“We've got the blend of youth and experience right in the team,” declared the 34-year-old.

“We're not going to get giddy and go to Lord's with our heads swelling because that's the wrong way to approach a final.

“We're going to go in there level-headed, prepare like we have and see where that takes us. We've got a lot of self-belief but we have the utmost respect for Nottinghamshire.”

Glamorgan have named the same squad that got the job done against Hampshire in the last four.
