UEFA’s Executive Committee today revealed that Wales is one of the 32 countries that have expressed an interest to be one of the 13 host venues for the UEFA European Championship Finals in 2020.
Bids will need to be submitted in April 2014 and a decision will be made by UEFA in September 2014.
The Football Association of Wales has expressed an interest in bidding.
A statement on the FAW website says that the Association "will fully evaluate, with our sporting, political and business partners, the possibility of submitting a formal bid when the full details are released by UEFA."
The statement continues: "Showcasing the best international football through the hosting of major events and finals tournaments remains a strategy of the FAW.
"It remains our ambition to work with UEFA in the hope of securing major events such as UEFA Euro 2020, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League finals.
"Recently, the FAW has successfully hosted the UEFA Women’s Under 19 Finals in West Wales and is delighted to be hosting the UEFA Super Cup at the Cardiff City Stadium in August 2014."
