NEWPORT teenager Tomos Evans enjoyed a once in a life time opportunity to be coached by cricket stars Marcus Trescothick, Jos Buttler and Jason Kerr.
He won the chance after buying a ticket in a Big Bike Ride raffle in aid of the Professional Cricketers' Association Benevolent Fund and Tom Maynard Trust.
England internationals Trescothick and Buttler play for Somerset County Cricket Club where the coaching took place and they passed on their tips to Tomos along with nine other Under 16-year-old boys.
It involved a two-hour session, during which the youngsters received coaching in fielding, batting and bowling.
The Big Bike Ride will see the three cricketers cycling as part of a team of 62 riders from Durham to Lord’s Cricket Ground in London between October 18 and 22 with the aim of raising £200,000.
Tomos bought his winning ticket while playing for the Wales Under-12s team at the Taunton Cricket Festival held at King’s College in August.
He also plays for the Gwent Young Cricketers Under-12s and Newport Cricket Club Under-13s teams.
