FIVE junior members of Newport Judo Club competed in the Dragon School of Combat Judo Competition in Pontarddulais on Sunday, all coming away as winners in their respective age groups.
Five-year-olds William Davies and Brook Silcox gave excellent performances in the under-8 age group to come away with gold trophies.
In the under-12s section Aaron Boardman finished in bronze position in the under-30k weight group and Jacob Jeremiah and Cai Silcox picked up both the bronze medals in the under-34k weight group with all the boys competing against players more than two years older than themselves.
Head coach Steve Babos was delighted with the performance of all five players in their first competition.
The five, who have been practising Judo for just over a year, train regularly with Newport Judo club at the Tennis Centre at Newport's International Sports Village.
Judo sessions are held every Thursday and Saturday and are open to anyone over five, juniors and adults.
