FORMER Cross Keys captain Rob Nash has led his new side Coventry to their best start to a season for 16 years as they take the SSE National League 1 by storm.

The openside flanker, 27, from Pontypool, joined the club in August and they look to make it five league wins out of five when they take on struggling Blaydon away on Saturday.

Last week Cov secured a 32-15 bonus point victory at home over Henley, Nash playing alongside two former Newport Gwent Dragons in the pack in lock Scott Morgan and prop Tim Ryan.

Tighthead Ryan was among the try scorers in a Coventry side which also included former Wales, Scarlets and Ospreys full back Barry Davies.

They signed Nash on a two-year deal after he impressed them playing for Principality Premiership side Keys when the Gwent team beat Coventry 36-12 in a pre-season friendly.

The West Midlands side have made no secret of their ambition to be gain promotion to England’s second-tier Championship at the end of the season.

They are currently second in the table, one point below Doncaster (where Wales’ 2005 Grand Slam-winning defence coach Clive Griffiths is director of rugby) who are one point ahead of them having won all their four games with bonus point triumphs.
