County announce new deal for Justin Edinburgh

This is the second time in 2013 that Edinburgh has agreed improved terms, aimed at keeping him and assistant Jimmy Dack at the club long term.

Edinburgh's new deal comes just 24 hours before he celebrates his two-year anniversary at the club. He had 18 months remaining on his previous agreement.

Edinburgh said: "When Jimmy and myself drive through the city of Newport it is fantastic to see kids through to adults wearing Newport County AFC kit as opposed to other clubs.

"I have received nothing less than 100% support from the chairman Les Scadding and director Howard Greenhaf in the two years I have been here and all the work undertaken by the supporters, much of it voluntary, has provided us with the platform to progress further whilst remaining sustainable.'

'We have a long term plan in place and Jimmy and I want to be part of that.

"The agreement to play matches at Rodney Parade was the most important signing in my tenure and allowed us to kick on to the next stage of our plan which was Football League status.

"The Community Officer role is extremely important and we want the next generation to be proud of Newport County AFC throughout the city and beyond. This is why I signed the extension, because our work is not done here.'

Chairman Les Scadding added: "Justin came to us regarding the possibility of extending the contract and we were delighted to work together to ensure we keep such a bright talent at Newport County AFC.

"Justin and Jimmy have a superb individual man management skills and equally as important in my eyes is the fact they instill respect into everybody connected with the club.

"The squad know how to conduct themselves on and off the pitch and this all stems from the management. We hope this partnership continues long into the future."
