NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have had a welcome disruption ahead of Saturday's lunchtime clash with London Wasps courtesy of a pair of Wales call-ups.

The Rodney Parade region do not yet know who will have 15 on their back in the home LV= Cup clash against Dai Young's side (kick-off midday).

Hallam Amos had been pencilled in but has been called up to train with Wales' autumn training squad along with fellow wing/full-back Tom Prydie.

They may well be sent back to Rodney Parade following Thursday's team announcement for the Argentina Test and Dragons head coach Darren Edwards is more than happy to have some uncertainty about their weekend line-up.

"Hallam and Tom going into the Welsh camp is excellent news for us," said Edwards. "We are two young players down and it could give an opportunity to another to impress.

"It's a nice problem for us and will be even better if they get the chance to perform for Wales and stay with that autumn squad."

The Dragons have named an extended squad for Saturday's game featuring plenty of teenage academy talent.

Wing Ashton Hewitt, 18, centre Tyler Morgan, 18, flanker Scott Matthews, 19, and lock Joe Davies, 17, followed the lead of 19-year-old hooker Elliot Dee to make their regional debuts in the 21-13 loss to the Scarlets last Friday.

They are joined in the squad by 18-year-old tighthead Alex Jeffries, 18-year-old openside Ollie Griffiths and 19-year-old back row forward James Benjamin.

"The guys that have played a lot this season have been rested and are on conditioning programmes ahead of a heavy period through to Christmas," said Edwards.

"That gives others some extra attention and we need to involve our young academy players and give them some targets.

"Whether they feature or not (against Wasps) they will have had two weeks of professional training which gives them a glimpse of what it could be like for them when they leave the academy system.

"This sort of experience is invaluable."

Director of rugby Lyn Jones' son Luc made his Dragons debut at Parc y Scarlets along with forwards coach Kingsley Jones' boy Rhys.

And another of Kingsley's sons could get a run out this weekend with 21-year-old fly-half Dorian named in the squad.

The Dragons, London Irish and Gloucester endured pointless opening weekends in Pool One, leaving them trailing Saracens.

The Aviva Premiership leaders got their LV= Cup campaign up and running with a bonus point win in Wycombe against a Wasps side that featured former England forwards Tom Palmer and James Haskell, ex-Wales Under-20s tighthead Will Taylor and bright midfield prospect Elliot Daly.
