GLASLLWCH Primary School will represent Newport County AFC in the Area Finals of the Football League Youth Cup.
The school won a nail-biting final against Marshfield Primary yesterday to keep alive their dream of playing at the world famous Wembley Stadium.
Glasllwch overcame Marshfield on penalties after a 1-0 semi-final win over St Julians with Marshfield reaching the final after beating St Marys by the same score.
Glasllwch will now represent Newport in the Area Finals (South) at Adams Park (Wycombe) on the weekend of March 10.
Should they be victorious, they would then compete with the other regional winners before the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
Each season The Football League organises two cup competitions for junior footballers from schools across the country (Kids Cup and Girls Cup), with the finals being played in the build-up to some of the biggest matches of the domestic season.
The Football League Kids Cup competition comprises of a six-a-side competition for U11 schoolchildren that culminates in three Wembley finals across the Football League Play-Off weekends in May 2014. The Football League Girls Cup comprises of a six-a-side competition for U13 girls that culminates in the Grand Final played before the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final at Wembley in March 2014.
