EIGHTEEN competitors from Gassor’s Taekwon-Do Tournament Team based at Newport’s Martial Arts and Fitness Centre (MAFC) at Maindee won a fantastic 23 medals at the recent Irish Cup tournament in Wexford, Ireland.
The team won an impressive 9 Golds, 7 Silvers & 7 Bronze medals.
The club’s chief instructor Master Gary Gassor 7th Degree Black Belt and Senior Instructor and Head Coach of the team, Mrs Leanne Gassor-Jones 4th Degree Black Belt, both travelled to the tournament with the team and were really proud and pleased with how well each team member performed and thought they represented Wales brilliantly. They would also like to thank the competitors and all their supporters for their efforts, dedication and commitment.
Gassor’s medal results were: Gold: Ethan Kyte - Gold Special Technique (Jumping High Kick), Georgia Southway - Gold Sparring, Isobel Southway - Gold Sparring, James Shaw - Gold Sparring & Gold Special Technique (Jumping High Kick), Katie Ford - Gold Patterns, Kian Luton - Gold Sparring, Morgan Thomas - Gold Sparring and Sam Pupic - Gold Sparring. Silver: Daniel Chappell - Silver Sparring, Ellis Murphy - Silver Sparring, Jack Taylor - Silver Sparring, Jake Rendle - Silver Patterns, Katie Ford - Silver Sparring, MorganThomas - Silver Patterns and Sam Pupic - Silver Patterns. Bronze: Craig Radford - Bronze Sparring & Bronze Patterns, Ethan Kyte - Bronze Patterns, Jake Rendle - Bronze Sparring, Jamie Yung - Bronze Sparring, Kian Luton - Bronze Patterns and Rhian Morgan - Bronze Sparring. The club also says 'well done' to students Adam Reed, Harri Radford and Owen Powell, who all worked very hard.
