NEWPORT County AFC are close to bringing in a striker on loan in time for him to feature in tomorrow’s League Two clash at Cheltenham Town.
Manager Justin Edinburgh and director of football Tim Harris are in talks with the unnamed player this afternoon and hope to tie up the deal today.
“We’re close but until it’s done I won’t say much,” said Edinburgh this afternoon.
“We’re hopeful that we’ll be able to bring a striker to the club in time to play tomorrow.
“He hasn’t been able to get here today to train with his teammates so, if it does go through, he would be on the bench.
“It will be a loan until midnight on January 1.”
The Exiles have applied for international clearance for the player, which must be granted by midday tomorrow in order for him to feature against Cheltenham.
