LEIGH HALFPENNY: Flawless place-kicking display as usual and it was a welcome sight to see him more prominent in attack. Solid display by the International Rugby Board's player of the year award nominee on a five-man short list. 8
GEORGE NORTH: Powerful running by the huge wing but needs to work on his overall game in attack because he so often fails to recognise supporting players when promising opportunities arise. 6
OWEN WILLIAMS: Took his try beautifully and showed plenty of promise in his first game at the Millennium Stadium. Another one for the future. 7
ASHLEY BECK: A superb finish by the Ospreys centre for his try with a lovely step inside and impressive overall. Likely to partner Scott Williams against Australia next week if the Scarlets man is fit. 8
HALLAM AMOS: Got better and better as the game went on in a debut to remember for the 19-year-old Newport Gwent Dragons star. Millimetres short of marking his first cap with a try. 7
JAMES HOOK: Excellent in his preferred position of No 10 in his first start there for Wales in over two years. His crisp passing and vision instrumental in helping the hosts build up their unassailable lead. 8
LLOYD WILLIAMS: Way off the pace but not entirely his own fault because some of the ball and protection his forwards gave him was shocking at times. Should have bagged that early try, TMO said no. 6
PAUL JAMES: Was OK in his first and last start of the autumn, the Bath man unavailable for next week’s showdown with the Wallabies. The hosts’ scrum struggled at times. 6
KEN OWENS: Not ‘Cannonball’ Ken’s finest hour but it was far from disastrous. Still an excellent deputy at hooker for Richard Hibbard. 6
RHODRI JONES: Prominent in the loose although he made one or two glaring errors of judgement, taking contact once when Wales had a huge overlap. Continues to learn his trade come scrum time. 6
LUKE CHARTERIS: Good to see him hit some good form in his first Test start for a year and was prominent in both tight and open play. Bombed a great try-scoring chance though. 7
IAN EVANS: Injury has plagued his season and the big lock was nowhere near his best. Had a great chance to stretch his legs after being put into space but was put into retreat at a rate of knots when tackled. 6
DAN LYDIATE: Came in at the 11th hour for injured Dragons captain Andrew Coombs and was fine, more prominent in open play, carrying well once or twice. 6
JUSTIN TIPURIC: The classy openside was good and could well start against the Wallabies, especially if pocket battleship Michael Hooper plays for the Aussies. 7
RYAN JONES: Led from the front as he stretched his record-breaking stint as Wales captain to 33. Will the number eight against Tonga solve the hosts’ lock problem against the men from Down Under next week? 8
