NEWPORT County AFC defender Harry Worley is determined to prove a point at former club Oxford United tonight as both sides play Friends Reunited.

Centre-back Worley, a summer signing from the Kassam Stadium, has been in excellent form for the Exiles, capped by his man of the match turn in Saturday's 0-0 draw at Cheltenham.

However, he won't be the only familiar face coming up against former teammates tonight.

Teammate Adam Chapman was also at Oxford from 2009 until this year, with loan spells at County and Mansfield in between, while Exiles 2010 promotion hero Danny Rose is currently a key cog for the Us.

Oxford's 3-0 win over Morecombe kept them at League Two's summit but Worley is confident that his side, who have kept four successive clean sheets, can upset the odds.

"It's going to be tough, we expect a hard game because Oxford are a good side, I know what they are all about, but the way we are playing I feel we can give them a good game,” said Worley, who turned 25 yesterday.

"We're doing very well at the moment and don't have any fear."

Worley played more than 60 games for the Us before moving to Newport in the summer in search of more game time and he harbours no ill-feeling to his former employers, just a desire to prove them wrong.

"I'm always looking forward to games, if selected, I just love playing, but there is no reason why we can't go to Oxford and get something," he said.

"I have lots of good friends there still, I moved on because I wasn't playing as much as I wanted to and hopefully tonight I can prove a few people wrong and get a good result."

Worley felt the Exiles deserved more from Saturday's 0-0 draw at Cheltenham.

"I think any away point in the league with a clean sheet is a good one, we had chances to win the game, but we're happy with the point," he said.

"We had chances in both halves, but we'll take what we got. Conor hit the post, Tom Naylor had one cleared off the line - and I don't know how that hasn't gone in - I think we definitely had the better chances, but it's a tough place to go.

"Cheltenham have been in the top six for the past two seasons, they are where they are but the league is a bit misleading at the moment, all we can do is keep picking up points to make sure we stay where we want to be."

Worley isn't concerned by the fact Newport travel to the Kassam Stadium with just one away win in the league.

"I could list a number of really good away performances and we have also won away in the cup (at Championship side Brighton and League One outfit Crawley) so we are not concerned whatsoever by our away stats," he added.
