NEWPORT County AFC striker Conor Washington has been nominated for the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Ultimate Finish award for his second goal against Portsmouth in the JPT.

Five fantastic strikes are contending for glory after being shortlisted for the latest JPT goal of the round prize.

Bristol City’s Joe Bryan and Portsmouth’s Patrick Agyemang have been the two winners of the goal of the round prize so far this season.

And the battle to claim the award at the area quarter-finals stage is likely to be just as hotly-contested.

The final decision on which player comes out on top rests with supporters, who have the opportunity to watch the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy video before voting for the best goals.

The successful player will receive a trophy as reward for their goal-scoring brilliance, while fans who voted for the winning strike will be entered into a special prize draw for the chance to win an iPod Shuffle.

The full list of nominations is: Matt McClure (Swindon Town v WYCOMBE WANDERERS); David Mooney (Stevenage v LEYTON ORIENT); Conor Washington (NEWPORT COUNTY v Portsmouth); Andy Monkhouse (HARTLEPOOL UNITED v Rotherham United); Antoni Sarcevic (FLEETWOOD TOWN v Carlisle United).

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “As we get closer to the Wembley final, the number of matches and teams involved in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy decreases.

“But the standard of goals in the competition remains as high as ever. The Area Quarter-Finals produced more excellent goals and it will be very interesting to see which way the supporter vote goes.”

County host Peterborough in the southern section semi-final at Rodney Parade on December 10.
