JACK Dixon is set to hand Newport Gwent Dragons an injury boost by making his comeback from a foot injury, writes Chris Kirwan.
The talented 19-year-old centre from Newbridge has been out of action since suffering the blow against Zebre at Rodney Parade on October 4.
He is back in full training and is likely to make his return to action for Bedwas, who travel to take on Llanelli at Parc y Scarlets in the Premiership on Sunday.
Dixon made a mightily impressive start to the season and would have been in contention to feature for Wales in the autumn internationals.
He will battle for midfield starts with Ashley Smith, Pat Leach and Ross Wardle in the Pro12 run-in.
While there is good news about the teenage centre, the region has suffered another blow in the backs ahead of Friday’s RaboDirect Pro12 encounter with Ulster in Belfast.
Wing Will Harries will miss the Ravenhill clash after suffering a concussion in the second half of Sunday’s impressive 24-23 victory against Glasgow.
He was replaced by Ross Wardle, who went on the score the matchwinning try and will be favourite to deputise against the Pro12 title hopefuls in Northern Ireland.
Both fly-half Jason Tovey and wing/full-back Tom Prydie are rated as 50/50 because of a dead leg and ankle injury respectively.
Meanwhile, the Dragons’ home Pro12 clash against Edinburgh, which was postponed on February 9 because of a waterlogged pitch, has been rearranged for Thursday, April 3 at 6.30pm.
The region are not to blame for latest unsociable Pro12 kick-off time. The encounter will be televised on S4C and cannot clash with the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final between Sale and Northampton, which starts at 8pm.
