The East Wales Schools Tumble & Vault Championships were held at Kestrel Gymnastics Club, in which children from 24 primary and secondary schools in East Wales took part.
The competition went well and was enjoyed by all the children, some of whom were competing for the first time.
In the Girls Under 11s section, Regan Skilton – Victoria Primary, won Gold; Holly Louise Jones – George Street Primary, Silver; Heather Dent – St Mary’s RC Primary, Bronze.
The winning teams were St. Mary’s RC, 1st place, tied for 2nd place were The Dell Primary and Duffryn Juniors, with St Julian’s in 3rd place.
In the U11 Boys section, the Gold Medal was won by Dylan Williams – Duffryn Juniors; Joseph Dunster – St Mary’s RC, Silver and Evan Kennedy – The Dell Primary, Bronze.
In the Girls Under 14s Section - Lois Gould of West Mon School, Gold; Bethan Wainwright – Bassaleg, Silver; Yasmin Ali – Caerleon Comp, Bronze.
Team winners were 1st place Bassaleg, 2nd place West Mon and 3rd place Caerleon Comp.
In the Girls Under 19 section – Gold Medal went to Rebecca Ham of Chepstow Comprehensive; Imogen Williams – Newbridge School, Silver; Hannah Foster – Caerleon Comp, Bronze.
Team winners were 1st place, Chepstow Comp, 2nd place Caerleon, 3rd place Bassaleg.
The Gold medal for U19 Boys went to Sam Christensen of Newport High.
The top three gymnasts in the individual age groups will now go on to represent East Wales in the Welsh Schools Finals being held in Cardiff in March.
