ABERGAVENNY ace Becky James won her second bronze medal on the final day of the Track Cycling World Championships in Colombia.
James finished a creditable third in a fiercely contested final of the women’s keirin, won by Kristina Vogel.
Vogel has now claimed three gold medals at these world championships following previous victories in the individual and team sprints.
James, the defending champion and team sprint bronze medallist from earlier in the week, followed the in-form Vogel’s wheel when the German launched her sprint a lap and a half from the line, but the 22-year-old didn't have the power to regain parity and was also edged out by Australia's Anna Meares.
Meanwhile Britain’s Laura Trott had to settle for silver in the women's omnium.
Trott went into the final two of six omnium events needing to overturn a seven-point deficit to runaway leader and defending champion Sarah Hammer, but was unable to close the gap and consequently finished runner-up for the second year in succession.
Hammer extended the lead to eight points by crossing the line just ahead of Trott in the scratch race, and then finished fourth, two places behind Trott, in the concluding 500m time-trial to seal victory by six points. Australia's Annette Edmondson won the bronze.
Trott and James’ podium finishes took Britain on to five medals for the championships, all of which have been won by women.
