BOBS Worth is a confident choice to keep his unbeaten Cheltenham record intact and keep the sun shining on punters at what has been a glorious Festival.
Spring has bloomed and with it has come some nice ground which the nine-year-old thrives on.
None come tougher than Nicky Henderson’s son of Bob Back and Barry Geraghty has been on form this week highlighted by More of That’s victory in the World Hurdle yesterday.
McCoy picked the wrong McManus horse and so did the Argus in At Fishers Cross but a win for Geraghty and his ride here will be a little compensation for this column.
Last Instalment, once an Argus horse to follow, is the one feared most, but he is said to prefer a little more give underfoot and he won’t be getting that here.
There’s some great punting opportunities elsewhere on the card and as the Irish pile into Briar Hill, I’m keen to take him on with Mosspark.
This scopey individual is thought of as a future RSA horse and he’d have to be in the thick of things here to realise those aspirations.
This is a great race with 20 runners and something I love is seeing those with untapped potential slug it out in the battle to return to the winner’s enclosure.
It’s been a good week for David Pipe and Kings Palace will take plenty of stopping carried home by fans who have taken big prices ante-post, but Mosspark is great value now at around 20-1.
A chance is taken on Broughton in the first as he has not run around Cheltenham, but the conditions should assist with him getting home and he won’t shirk a fight being formerly trained by Mark Johnston.
Montbazon, a class act on this day and Thomas Edison are my two against the field In the County Hurdle.
Royal Regatta was entered in Wednesday’s Grade one Neptune hurdle but finds himself instead in a handicap at 4.40. He won’t find rivals of that calibre in this and my view was that he hated the mud here last time.
SELECTIONS: 1.30 Broughton, 2.05 Montbazon, 2.40 Mosspark, 3.20 Bobs Worth, 4.00 Made in Time, 4.40 Royal Regatta, 5.15 Claret Cloak
