'IF it ain't broke, don't fix it' is the usual response to suggestions of tinkering with the format of the Six Nations.

While every other tournament features bonus points there is reluctance to change Europe's international competition.

I believe that Six Nations should follow the rest – and that's not the only alteration that I'd make.

A redraw of which fixtures are home and away could be made every four or eight years, meaning Welsh fans could have the opportunity to go to Rome one year and Paris the next.

And, given that television dictates three different kick-off times on final weekend, I'd scrap points difference. Instead the tournament should follow football's La Liga and Serie A by separating teams by their head-to-head record.
