NEWPORT County have received a monumental boost after it was announced that Byron Anthony has not broken his leg, writes Michael Pearlman.
A bad night on Wednesday, when the Exiles were beaten 2-1 by Dagenham and Redbridge threatened to get far worse when Anthony limped from the field midway through the first half.
The former Bristol Rovers man suffered a double fracture back in August in County’s sensational Capital Cup win at Brighton in August and has only recently returned to full fitness.
Manager Justin Edinburgh explained after the game on Wednesday that Anthony’s injury was to the same leg and was “sick,” with worry that he’d suffered a similar fate.
However, Anthony has received the all-clear from doctors after an X-ray on Wednesday night at the Royal Gwent.
“Gutted had to come off went for a precaution X-ray no damage just a bleed around my old fracture which caused the pain. Settle down in days,” Anthony wrote on Twitter.”
