IT'S derby day in Cwmbran where Torfaen Tigers look to the do the double over Newport Titans in the Welsh Conference South (kick-off 2pm), writes Chris Kirwan.
The Gwent pair clashed on opening weekend when the champions recorded a comprehensive 50-22 success in Maesglas.
Ryan Bates, Jarad Hinnem (4), Cory Clarke, Liam Silver, Dai Thomas, Mark White and Andrew Barlow all crossed in a feisty encounter at Newport Saracens RFC.
The Tigers were pushed off top spot when beaten on their own patch by the rapidly-improving Bridgend Blue Bulls in round four. The visitors ran in six tries in a 32-20 success but it's far from doom and gloom at the Kings Head Ground.
"We battled well against Blue Bulls," said head coach Jamie Williams. "We need to get back to winning ways this weekend and are looking forward to playing our friends and rivals from Newport."
The Titans, who were disappointed that Cardiff Demons were unable to raise a team last weekend, are looking for revenge after being turned over on their own patch.
Chairman Rob Dodgson said: "We have been building from our opening game against the Tigers and will be going into it with an eye on getting the league points and settling the score."
- The first of two rugby league double headers will take place at Glan-yr-Afon Park in Blackwood this afternoon.
The South Wales Under-16s host Widnes Vikings (kick-off midday) before Valley Cougars take on Nottingham Outlaws in the Conference South (kick-off 2.30pm).
Next Saturday Valley Cougars host Bristol Sonics before South Wales Scorpions take on York City Knights.
- Wales Dragonhearts will be holding a Probables versus Possibles trial game at Blackwood on Sunday, June 22 (kick-off 4pm).
The Probables team fearures Ryan Bates of Torfaen Tigers while his teammates Mark White and Louis Pengelli are on the Possibles' bench.
Dragonhearts assistant coach Paul Emmanuelli said: "After a long hard selection process we have come up with two squads that are very strong.
"This year's final 22 is going to be extremely strong and I'm looking forward to working with them."
