TEAM Wales cyclist Owain Doull hopes to win a first Welsh medal in the velodrome at Glasgow 2014 this afternoon.
The Cardiff rider goes for bronze against New Zealand's Marc Ryan just after 5.30pm today.
On his race against England's Steven Burke this morning, Doull said: "I'm pretty happy, I didn't really know where it was at. It always helps to get to catch someone, so it worked out pretty well.
"I know Burke pretty well as we're in the GB squad together.
"Once you get into the slipstream you get that motivation and you know it's going well. You get the draft as well so you get sucked in a bit which is nice."
On being up for the bronze medal race the 21-year-old added: "I beat the guy for third by about 1.3 sec so it's a decent margin. Hopefully I'll be a bit fresher because he did the team pursuit the last few days."
On representing Wales Doull said: "I represent GB quite a lot so you don't really get the chance. It's more of a rarity so it's nice to wear a Welsh jersey."
