THE Pontypool father of gymnast Frankie Jones described her Commonwealth Games performance as "wonderful" after watching his daughter win a gold and five silvers.
Colin Jones cheered on Frankie, the Team Wales flag bearer, as she won three silvers today and finally a gold in the individual ribbons final in the final routine of her career.
There was a nervy wait for the 23-year-old's gold medal to be confirmed when Canada's Patricia Bezzoubenko appealed against her score, but it was rejected and the celebrations began.
Mr Jones said: "I'll never experience anything like it again and I never have before, it's wonderful. It means everything, she worked so hard, she deserves it.
"So do Welsh Gymnastics because they've supported her so well.
"She's been doing this for 14 years now and as soon as the Canadian appeal was rejected I lifted the roof in there.
"With the Welsh support in there it could almost have been Cardiff, and it was nearly as friendly!"
