YNYSDDU and Oakdale take the field in the Swalec Bowl on Saturday afternoon knowing that they are 80 minutes away from a date at the Millennium Stadium, writes Chris Kirwan.
The Division Three East A duo face tricky challenges with the former up against Ystradgynlais at Taffs Well and the latter tackling Cambrian Welfare at Nelson.
Ynysddu are second in their table with a record of played 18, won 14 and have enjoyed fine Bowl successes at Forgeside (63-14), Monmouth (12-10), Caldicot (19-10) and Llangefni (32-20) before they finally enjoyed home advantage in the quarters to down Cwmavon 12-5.
Ystradgynlais are unbeaten in Division Three West Central C and have received celebrity backing this week courtesy of their former fly-half Owen Williams, who roped in Leicester teammates and England internationals Manu Tuilagi, Ed Slater and Mathew Tait to give their support on Twitter.
But Ynysddu are hoping that they can keep alive their bid for a treble glory of promotion and victory in the Swalec Bowl and Ben Francis Cup (kick-off 3pm).
Fixture secretary Gwyn Edwards said: "We've all got butterflies now! It will be a tough one but a challenge that we are looking forward to and it should be a great occasion.
"There is real excitement in the club and we are more than capable of beating Ystradgynlais, and I don't think that's just me being one-eyed!
"The boys are playing really well and after a couple of narrow defeats have got back on track in the league since a tough quarter-final victory against Cwmavon in the last five minutes.
"They are relishing the challenge and it would be nice if both us and Oakdale can make it through for an eastern final."
Oakdale sit fifth in Three East A and have made it to the last four thanks to wins against Llandrindod Wells (58-5), Aberbargoed (24-6), Swansea Uplands (18-13) and Nantyffyllon (13-10), the quarter-final tie tipped in their favour by Simon Veall's late score.
They take on a Cambrian Welfare side that sit fourth in Division Three East Central B but with games in hand on the leaders and title hopes alive.
However, Oakdale are hopeful that they can emerge victorious at Nelson to make it a remarkable turnaround (kick-off 2.30pm).
"There is a real buzz around the club," said Simon Barber, team manager and half-back. "I've been involved here for a number of years and a while back we were unable to fulfil cup fixtures because we couldn't field a side.
"Now we are in a position of having a base of 27, 28 players and able to rotate our squad and have nice selection problems."
He continued: "We've had a core of people who have always been with us even when we were being beaten by 50 points but we are hoping to get two busses of supporters over this weekend.
"It's really nice to see considering where we have come from and with a bit of luck our finale will be in Cardiff not in Nelson."
Pontypridd and Bridgend have already booked their places in the Swalec Cup final on Sunday , May 3 while the Plate semi-finals pit Penallta against Newcastle Emlyn while Ystrad Rhondda take on Skewen.
Finals day on Sunday, May 3: Bowl – 1pm, Plate – 3.15pm, Cup – 5.35pm
