NEWPORT boxer Kieran Finnerty represented Wales against Scotland this week.
The 17-year-old, who became Welsh 64kg youth champion earlier this month, said: “I’m gutted to have lost to a strong Scottish boy on a split decision but very pleased with my performance.
“It could have gone either way but was a great experience and an honour to represent Wales again.”
The Newport Sporting Club ABC fighter, coached by Mark Harris and Dai Foster, won the 60kg title as a 16-year-old last year.
Meanwhile, Alway ABC is hosting a special boxing show at St Patrick’s Social Club, Cromwell Road, Newport, on Friday, May 1.
The main attraction will be a sparring bout between Joey Newell and Gerald Waters.
Also in action will be Ashley Sims, Craig Bishop, Clayton Cook, Ethan Shellam and Joe and Tom Teenham.
The doors open at 6pm and the first bell is at 7.30pm. Entry costs £10.
