ST JOES boxer Gary Buckland will return to action in June with Sanigar Events returning to Newport Leisure Centre.
The evening of boxing titled ‘Unleash the Dragon’ will be on Friday, June 19 with several championship titles set to be defended.
'The Kid' Craig Kennedy following on from an emphatic knockout victory over London's Wadi Camacho will look to extend his unbeaten record when he faces former GB Olympian and British and Commonwealth title challenger Courtney Fry in the main event.
Fry has shared the ring with the legendary Roy Jones Jr and two former world champions from Wales, Nathan Cleverly and Enzo Maccarinelli.
Fry is coming off a decisive points victory over the highly regarded Jon-Lewis Dickinson.
Cardiff-boxer Kennedy is building a cult following in Wales and has the British title in his sights; a win over Fry would elevate his position in the top 10 British rankings and bring him one step closer to winning the Lonsdale Belt.
In the chief support Welsh Champion Barrie Jones will defend against James Lilley who earned his place with an impressive first round KO of Ameen Alkailany last time out.
Newport's former British Champion Gary Buckland returns to Welsh soil for the first time since his two epic battles against Gavin Rees.
Cefn Fforest's super bantamweight Robbie Turley is back on track following a superb win over Southern Area Champion Jamie Speight in December.
Robbie will be continuing to gain momentum on June 19th as he manoeuvres his way into a shot at the British Title later in the year.
Former Welsh Champions Frankie Borg and Jerome Samuels eye a return to winning ways having lost their titles at the same venue in March.
The undefeated quartet of Morgan Jones, Richard Canning, Nathan Thorley and Kyle Jones will be keen to stick to winning ways following strong performances in their previous outings.
And Newport's Adam Goldsmith will also feature as will heavyweight puncher Dorian Darch.
Promoter Jamie Sanigar is excited by the buzz surrounding Welsh boxing at the moment and is promising an entertaining show.
"Once again we have got a fantastic card,” he said.
Kennedy is a real rising star and has a huge following. The other fights are real 50/50's and there is always a lot of pride on the line with the Welsh title.
“We will hopefully have a new Welsh World Champion by then if Lee Selby does what we know he can on May 30th. That being the case Welsh boxing will be at its best since Joe Calzaghe was undefeated champion back in 2008."
