FORMER Wales Dragonhearts full-back Scott Bessant has joined the Torfaen Tigers coaching set-up.
Bessant started his rugby league career at the Tigers, winning the first of his Dragonhearts caps whilst at the club before joining Newport Titans playing primarily at full back but equally at home at stand off or in the centres.
He represented the Dragonhearts from 2005-2010 before retiring from playing and taking over as head coach of the Titans in 2014, guiding them to the WRL plate final.
The appointment sees him link up with ex-Dragonhearts teammate Jamie Williams, who is head coach at the club, and Bessant will work primarily with the first team but will also offer position-specific advise to the club's junior players.
"I'm delighted to be joining the club where it all began for me," said Bessant. "The club has made massive progress on and off the field and have big ambitions moving forward, they have a talented squad and I can't wait to get stuck in."
Chairman Rob Davies said: "Scott brings with him a wealth of experience to the club and am certain he will compliment Jamie and Kyle Scrivens brilliantly."
The Tigers are one from bottom of the Conference South but are on an upward trend after successive wins against Oxford Cavaliers and Sheffield Hallam Eagles.
