CHEPSTOW Town football club is celebrating an amazing achievement in getting no less than eight young players into Football League club academies.
The club's junior section has only been going for ten years which makes its development programme even more impressive. This season alone the club has lost three players from the under eights to academy football.
Bringing the youngsters on from an early age – just four – and encouraging them to express themselves in a fun environment seems to be the key the success. The youngsters are then comfortable on the ball right from the start.
The club also has a great relationship with Cardiff City, Newport County, Bristol Rovers, Bristol City and Swansea City and gets regular junior fixtures against these clubs.
It is hoped that within a few years the seniors will start to benefit from the talented players coming through.
The players now involved with Football League academies are: Aniran Livermore (Bristol Rovers U13s); Callum Dark (Bristol Rovers U15s); Harry Pinchard (Cardiff City U14s);
Morgan Sage (Bristol Rovers U9s); Lewis Taylor (Bristol Rovers U8s); Billy Ralph (Cardiff City U8s); Lewis Pinchard (Bristol Rovers U10s) and Iestyn Kew (Bristol Rovers U8s).
