YNYSDDU U10s travelled up the valley to play in an early season festival, which is always a good test.
The team had the usual bare squad of 10, but that wasn't going to hold them back.
Up first were local rivals Blackwood, always a must win. The young Ynysddu team came away winners and whatever happened from there was a bonus.
The second game was a major test against a physical Abertillery team. Ynysddu were at one point trailing 2 - 0, but the true grit of the youngsters shone through. They clawed back one try then a second before running the full length of the pitch to score the winning try just before the final whistle, ending 3-2 to Ynysddu.
Newbridge next and yet another tough physical game, with a lot of incidents on and off the ball. It was tight for most of the game, but with some strong defence and straight aggressive running Ynysddu were too strong for the opposition, running out 2 - 0 winners.
The final was next, against the old enemy Ebbw Vale RTB, a team Ynysddu always seem to meet in the final when just running out of steam. This time was no different. Ynysddu kept going to the end even though they were tired, bruised and battered and put in a worthy performance against a squad of 15 players.
But Ynysddu can all hold their heads high and be proud of what they have all achieved.
