NEWPORT-based Gassor's Tournament Team are celebrating after 35 students put in brilliant performances at a recent Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing tournament in Cardiff.
The Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing students represented the team, which is based at Newport’s Martial Arts & Fitness Centre (MAFC), and came away with a superb haul of 33 medals, including 13 golds, eight silvers and 12 bronzes.
The club is very pleased and proud of all the students and the full medal results were:
Gold Medals: Adam Reed – Sparring and Patterns, Bailey Collier – Sparring, Emilio Thacker – Sparring, Grace Bassage-Morgan – Special Technique (High Kick), Harvey Jones – Sparring, Jasper Jones – Sparring, Kian Luton – Special Technique (Long Kick), Roman Thacker – Sparring, Sam Chand – Special Technique (High Kick) and Special Technique (Long Kick), Thomas Pelosi – Patterns, Tomos Sharwood – Sparring.
Silver Medals: Alfie Amos-Smith – Special Technique (Long Kick), Chayton Worrell – Sparring, Cody Butler – Sparring, Emilio Thacker – Special Technique (Long Kick), Ethan Kyte – Sparring, George Williams – Special Technique (Long Kick), Gwyn Blackmore – Sparring, Keeley Tobin – Sparring.
Bronze Medals: Akeel Miah – Sparring, Caroline Doyle – Sparring, Ethan Kyte – Patterns, Harmesh Chand – Sparring and Patterns, Joseph Davies – Sparring and Special Technique (High Kick), Leanne Reed – Patterns, Owen Powell – Patterns, Russell Parfitt – Sparring, Sam Chand – Sparring, Stevie-Leigh Tolland – Sparring.
A big ‘well done’ also goes to: Alex Hemming, Courtney Kyte, Harri Radford, Jade Rendle, Lewys Burge, Megan Baynton, Myles Bassage-Morgan, Noah Morgan and William Fox-Pritchard who also all gave good performances.
The team were accompanied by their coaches, senior international I.T.F. instructor Leanne Gassor-Jones 5th degree black belt, Arron Rose 2nd degree black belt, Sam Pupic 2nd degree black belt, Mark Sharwood and Craig Radford.
All of the coaches were impressed with the effort from each student.
