BRISTOL City have recalled Antoine Semenyo from his loan spell with Newport County AFC as they prepare to sell the teenage forward.
The 19-year-old has impressed during his time with County, scoring six goals in 32 appearances.
And Semenyo’s performances in the FA Cup – in the Exiles’ victory over Leicester City and yesterday’s 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough – have apparently caught the attention of a number of Premier League giants.
Manchester United are one side said to be interested and the Daily Mail is reporting that Chelsea have made a £1million offer.
The Mail says Chelsea see Semenyo as a prospect for their under-23 squad initially with potential for him to develop.
It's understood Bristol City want closer to £2m for the teenager who can play across the forward line.
County confirmed the news this evening.
“Newport County AFC can confirm that forward Antoine Semenyo has been recalled from his loan spell with the Exiles by his parent club Bristol City,” said a statement.
“The club would like to put on record our thanks to Antoine for all of his efforts whilst playing for the Exiles and wish him all the best for the future.”
The news is a big blow for County and will only intensify manager Michael Flynn’s determination to bring in new faces before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.
