AFTER tasting success on the international stage with Guyana, Keanu Marsh-Brown wants to show Newport County AFC fans what he can do in the remaining nine games of the season.
The winger marked his international debut with an assist to help Guyana beat Belize and qualify for the Gold Cup for the first time in the nation’s history last weekend.
But Marsh-Brown has endured a difficult first season as a County player.
The 26-year-old, who joined on a two-year deal from Forest Green Rovers last summer, has made just three starts and 15 appearances in total.
“As much as it’s frustrating for me, it must be frustrating for the fans as well because they’ve seen me sign for the club but haven’t seen me play much,” he said.
“I’ve been trying to get out there on the field but through some unlucky circumstances, I haven’t been able to get on the pitch.
“Hopefully now I can stay injury free and when I get my chance, I’ll be able to show everyone why the club signed me.”
Marsh-Brown is aiming to use his international experience to kick-start his County career.
“I’m full of confidence and I want to bring that confidence back here now and hopefully get some minutes and show everyone what I can do,” he said.
“I went out to Guyana and started and played 80 minutes and hopefully I can bring that back to Newport and we can push for what we’re pushing for here.
“The main thing for me is playing games – to make sure I’m happy and playing football.
“Hopefully I can have an amazing Gold Cup and if I get my name out there on the international stage it’s good for the club.
“After that I’ll have a bit of a holiday and then look to start next season well and, hopefully, we can do even better than we’ve done this year.”
