THE Newport County AFC Supporters’ Trust board has two new directors after the premature end of the election process.
The Trust announced on June 27 the intention to hold elections in August to fill five vacant positions on the board.
As at 5pm on July 15, the deadline for candidate nominations, only five valid candidate nominations had been received.
Gavin Foxall, Shaun Johnson and Mike Everett were all therefore re-elected unopposed to the Trust board.
And they will be joined by new candidates Kelly Anderson and Paul Marks once they pass the EFL’s Fit and Proper Persons’ Test.
In her election statement, Anderson said: “My passion lies with engaging the community in Newport County and building the future generation of fans.
“I want Newport County to be at the heart of the community in Newport.
“I love the great things that are happening in this fantastic club and would love to be part of moving it forward and shaping its business future.
“This is where I believe that my skillset can truly add value to guarantee the success of the club both on and off the pitch.”
Marks, a County fan for more than 40 years, said: “We need to continue to establish and progress as a Football League club, living within our means, and supporting the management team to put a successful team on the pitch.
“There is still some work to do to further improve communication with all fans, Trust members and commercial partners. Transparency must be key, as far as business sensitivities will allow.
“I would like to think that I could add value through my financial background together with my experiences of running a business on a day to day basis.
“Ultimately my motivation to stand for election is simply to support and help the club I love, and I'm prepared to roll my sleeves up and work hard to contribute in any way I can.”
