WINGER Jordan Green has returned to Newport County on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old winger joins from Championship club Barnsley after making 16 appearances for the Exiles during the first half of the 2016/17 campaign.
London-born Green signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Oakwell last January following a spell in Somerset with Yeovil Town.
“I am delighted to sign,” said Green. “This opportunity will give me a great chance for regular football and hopefully help push the club up to the right end of the table.
“I’d describe myself as a tricky winger, I like to use my speed and control to beat players and get the ball forward. I can’t wait to get going.”
After the signing was completed, County boss Michael Flynn added: “I’ve said that I want to bring more creativity and pace in and Jordan has got that in abundance.
“He got his move to Barnsley in League One and was in the squad that got promoted to the Championship, playing a dozen games, training and playing with quality players only improving on his quality.
“I am delighted to bring Jordan in, we know what we're getting with his proven pace and ability to create and score goals.”
Green started out at Fulham and was released at the age of 16, but a successful trial at Premier League club Bournemouth resulted in a one-year-deal with the Cherries.
He was loaned to County in August 2016 and scored two goals – both in cup competitions – before signing permanently for Yeovil in August 2017.
After several impressive performances in League Two, Green was snapped up by Barnsley halfway through the 2018/19 season.
Green made 12 appearances, scoring in a 3-0 win at Southend United, as the Tykes earned promotion to the Championship.
