ALUN Wyn Jones wants World Rugby to act after the Wales captain was grabbed by the penis by Joe Marler in the Six Nations clash at Twickenham.

The England loosehead prop was caught by television cameras grabbing the lock between the legs during a scuffle in the first half.

The incident was missed by referee Ben O’Keefe and his touch judges, while the TMO also failed to bring it to their attention in time.

Under World Rugby’s guidelines, the Harlequins front rower faces a ban and Marler is likely to be cited with the low-end suspension for “grabbing, twisting or squeezing the genitals" being 12 weeks.

However, it’s too little, too late for Wales after they suffered a 33-30 defeat as England claimed the Triple Crown.

“It’s interesting. What would you do?” said Jones. “I’ve got 138 Tests for my country. If I react, I get a red card. It’s tough, isn’t it?

“Hopefully World Rugby have a look at it. Joe’s a good bloke, lots of things happen on a rugby field.

It’s difficult as a captain these days because you can’t speak to a ref about anything, it feels.

“I look at the tough judge, obviously he didn’t see what happened and that’s fine. There’s a lot of footage that has been shown, it seems like a lot of supporters saw what happened.

“It’s very frustrating that we talk a lot about TMOs and footage reviews, yet there doesn’t seem to be a lot of it happening.”

Wales have lost three games on the spin and finish their campaign against Scotland in Cardiff next weekend, coronavirus permitting.

Boss Wayne Pivac believes they have to learn to match attacking intent with pragmatism.

“We gave England a good start, we played a bit too much rugby and they were good enough to capitalise on our mistakes,” said the head coach, who replaced Warren Gatland after the World Cup.

“After half-time, we started the way we wanted to, but we let England back in again.

"We're our own worst enemies at the minute. We're working hard behind the scenes to get it right over the 80 minutes, and I think we're heading in the right direction.”

Dragons tighthead Leon Brown suffered a shoulder stinger in the second half after coming on for Dillon Lewis but continued and completed the game, earning the praise of his boss.

“We’ve got some young props that we are putting a lot of faith in,” said Pivac. “Leon coming on today had to dig deep and I thought that he did really, really well.

“I think that both those guys have got big futures in the game and we are going to keep working hard on the scrum and making sure that we are improving.”

Lock Jake Ball is likely to be out for three months after suffering a shoulder injury that requires surgery while full-back Leigh Halfpenny should be fit for the Scotland game after playing on after a cut to his right knee.
