TWELVE talented cricketers at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools will be representing Wales this summer.

The pupils at Monmouth School for Boys and Monmouth School for Girls have been picked for the Wales age group squads.

Sixth Form student, Harry Friend, continued his impressive start to the season with his inclusion in a two-day training match with Glamorgan this week.

He played with all the senior professionals at Glamorgan under the eye of the professional county’s head coach, Matthew Maynard.

Harry, an opening batsman, has been working hard under the guidance of Monmouth School for Boys’ Director of Sport, Andy Jones, and cricket coach, Steve James.

He has also been picked for the Wales boys Under-18s squads alongside fellow Monmouth students Sam Swingwood, Ed Sivak and Joe Harris, while Hugo Caldicott is in the Development squad.

Spin-bowling all-rounder Sophia Smale has been selected for Wales girls’ Under-15s and Lotte Matthews for the under-13s.

Henry Hurle and Will Morris have been picked for Wales boys Under-15s, with Zac Williams, Roahn Mohindru and Noah Rice in the under-14s squad.

It has been an uncertain summer for cricket but the sport is resuming after the lockdown.

For the first time, as part of a new England and Wales Cricket Board County Partnership Agreement, Glamorgan is running and managing the summer Wales age group programme.

The programme is operating as a section of Glamorgan's expanded pathway, while Cricket Wales will manage and run the regional and winter training programmes.
