Pakistan legend Wasim Akram has put his hand up to be Glamorgan's next bowling coach.
The former Pakistan captain and Lancashire overseas all-rounder retired from cricket after a short spell with Hampshire in 2003 to focus on media work but is ready to offer his services to Glamorgan after the incumbent Steve Watkin completes his tenure coaching the Welsh county's bowlers.
Akram, perhaps the greatest left-arm quick bowler of all time with 414 Test wickets at an outstanding 23.62 average, and 502 one-day international wickets at 23.52, has no prior coaching experience but believes he is the know-how to coach Glamorgan's pace bowl-ers.
"I would like to coach Glamorgan's bowlers one-day," Akram told The Argus.
"I've still got a house in England and although I haven't coached before it's something I definitely want to do whether that's now, in a few months, or maybe in a few years.
"In the future I would also be interested in doing some coaching with England's fast bowlers because they have got the potential to improve and I like living in the UK.
"I've got years of experience and I want to give something back."
Meanwhile, the former Indian all-rounder Ravi Shastri has backed Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard to lead the county out of the doldrums but warned against unrealistic expectations of his friend.
The retired Indian captain and all-rounder, who was Glamorgan's 1987 overseas player, is urging supporters to be patient as Maynard implements his rebuilding plan.
"Glamorgan have got the right man, Matthew Maynard, in charge," Shastri said.
"The best way for the team to improve is by developing younger players and being patient.
"It will take time and there are no quick fixes but in the long run it will be to the benefit of Glamorgan cricket."
Australian fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus, a Glamorgan overseas target last summer, said he was approached by several counties this year but declined their offers.
However, the Tasman-ian is open to the possibility of being Glamorgan's overseas player in the future. "It's possible I could play for Glamorgan one-day but it's more likely to be for a short stint instead of a full season,' Hilfenhaus said.
