NEWPORT Gwent Dragons flanker Richard Parks will play again this season after a scan revealed he is only expected to be out of action for between four and six weeks.
The Welsh international has been in fine form this season since joining the Dragons from French giants Perpignan last summer.
The 30-year-old former Leeds and Celtic Warriors man was unlucky not get back into the Welsh squad for their November friendly with World Cup champions South Africa.
Parks injured his left knee during the 11-6 defeat to the Cardiff Blues on Boxing Day.
Following a scan, Dragons physio Dan Martin said: "We've had great news regarding Richard's injury. There will be a full recovery without surgery and he should be back within four to six weeks if all goes well.
"Following the report, Richard and is feeling hugely positive about his return. It's a great boost for the New Year."
An upbeat Parks said: "I'm really looking forward to getting back on the pitch with the boys, especially after the result against the Llanelli Scarlets on New Years Day.
"The team doctor explained that the first week would be a good indication of the severity of the injury and I'm pleased that after only one week I was able to walk with no problems. All being well, I look to return to the Dragons in around four weeks."
