"A HUGE performance," that was how a delighted Newport Gwent Dragons coach Paul Turner described their remarkable victory over Glasgow at Fir Hill on Friday night.

It was the Dragons' second Magners League victory in four days and it was the first time Glasgow had lost on their own ground this season.

And it was achieved despite the Dragons losing two more players to injury - international pair Kevin Morgan and Rhys Thomas both going off, and Paul Emerick being yellow carded.

"That was a huge performance and I am really pleased with it," a delighted Turner said.

Turner was even happier as for once the Dragons were the only Welsh region to win on Friday.

"It was a hugely committed performance, the boys really hung in there and you can't ask for more than two wins in four days like that.

"We had to make changes during the game because the players were getting really tired, but I still felt we competed very well.

"We had a tight head off the field and though we had two loose heads on the scrum just held up.

"I think we laid the foundations by getting into the lead early.

"Glasgow are a good team and they've just beaten a side like Biarritz in the Heineken Cup.

"There was a good performance by Andy Hall, returning against his old team and the back row played very well too.

"We knew the back three would have to stand up to a barrage of kicking and they did very well.

"It looks as though we've become the last play team, whether winning or losing," added Turner, referring to yet another nail-biting finish.

Hall said: "It's always nice to come back here and get a win.

"Externally people may have said we were down after our recent run of defeats, but it was never a question of us feeling we had fallen by the wayside.

"There is lots of belief amongst us and we are on the right track."
