ANOTHER fixture list interrupted by the inclement weather.
Fortunately, the one County Motor Services Cup, round three game scheduled was played, First Division Treowen Stars returning from Second Division Tranch with a 3-2 victory, Lewis Coote, Jason Shephard and substitute David Francis being the marksmen.
The one First Division fixture played was at Mardy where, in an amazing game, visitors Spencer Youth and Boys shared ten goals.
Mardy scored first only for Spencer to score twice to lead at the interval, the scoring then changed a further five times with Mardy scoring the equalising goal two minutes from time.
Goal scorers for Mardy were Lewis Welch (2), Steven Smith, Paul Williams and Tom Overton, for Spencer were Daniel Bailey (4) and Luke Palmer.
Two games were played in Division Two, Trethomas Bluebirds taking advantage of Pentwynmawr Athletic being involved in the Amateur Cup by coming away from Lucas Cwmbran with an eight goal victory to go top, Andrew Gomer and Ross Perkins, two apiece, Karl Olsen, Simon Moses, Jeff Griffiths and Gareth Jones the goal scorers.
Llanhilleth Athletic returned from the Birches with a 3-2 victory over West Pontnewydd, Mike Hurn, John Dalton and substitute Dean Morse scoring the goals.
In the Third Division, Sudbrook Cricket Club scored six when entertaining Crusaders through Rory Aldritt (2), Robert Thorn, Richard Lund and substitutes Ross Irvine and Daryl Cann to close the gap on leaders Govilon to two points. Pilcs, in third place, had a two goal home victory over Underwood Social Club with goals from James Ronan and Darren Phillips. AC Pontymister had a good 3-2 win at the Bowling Green over visitors Abergavenny Thursdays, Christopher Jefferies, Thomas Pratt and substitute Scott Jefferies the goal scorers.
In the Pontypool derby, New Inn defeated Race 4-1 at Woodfield Road with goals from Michael Ellis, David Saunders, Ryan Anderson and Martin Bewick. Whiteheads returned from the Castle Grounds defeating Caldicot Castle by the odd goal in five, Simon Jones, Neil Purnell and substitute Mike Garrett the marksmen.
