VICTORY against Blackwood last weekend ensured Pontypool remain in a strong position at the head of the table but there are plenty of warnings about complacency as they enter a crucial period of their promotion campaign.
It's top against bottom when Pooler make the short trip to Fleur-de-Lys tomorrow afternoon but the resolve showed by the hosts last weekend means it is anything but a foregone conclusion.
Fleur battled for a 6-6 draw at Newbridge and they will need to keep showing that determination if they are to battle their way clear of the basement.
At the other end of the table, Pooler aim to keep some distance between themselves and Bargoed, Caerphilly and Blackwood.
They built up a good lead over the Glan-yr-Afon Park outfit last Saturday but Bargoed kept up the heat with a bonus point win over Rumney.
It would be easy to keep gazing over the shoulder such is the reward for coming top, but Pooler insist they only look towards the next game and in this instance the physical challenge of Fleur.
"We were a bit shocked to see their result from the Newbridge game and we have heard that they are a very determined side," said team manager Colin Brennan.
"It's a time for forgetting about being top and going for promotion, we need to be absolutely focused on the game in front of us.
"We do feel that it almost makes it a cup game for every side playing us at the moment because we are at the top of the league. And Fleur may be bottom but we know it will be far from an easy game.
"We have been drumming home to the boys how important it is to keep going and the boys are well aware that the most dangerous sides can be the ones at the bottom.
"They will throw absolutely everything at us and we know all too well from last season that they are very strong on their own patch.
"You can only go up if you keep your feet on the ground and keep pushing, so that is what we intend doing."
Blackwood will look to get back on track when they host Llanharan this weekend while Newport Saracens could do with a win against Llantrisant to climb from their lowly 11th place.
Newbridge travel to Rumney knowing that a bonus point win would mean they overtake their hosts in the table.
Title-chasing Bargoed have a tough trip to UWIC while Beddau against Caerphilly promises to be a tasty encounter.
