CROSS Keys forwards coach Greg Woods is demanding another dominant display from his pack when they tackle Pontypridd tomorrow, though he is hoping he can bare watching all 80 minutes from the touchline this time.
Keys won a dramatic game at Bedwas last weekend with the final play of the game thanks to a cracking break by fly-half Ryan James and a superb finish by winger Gareth Williams.
But it was a score that the Keys coaching staff needed to watch on DVD after they thought the hosts has snatched the points with a try of their own in injury time.
Woods said: "I was walking into the changing room, I think Dai Manley was kicking an advertising board and Robert Beale was heading to his car. I just couldn't stand the prospect of hearing the whistle being blown after another defeat to Bedwas.
"It would have been so hard to take because we dominated the second half, but luckily we dug deep for a great score."
Most of the frustration had come from the fact that the Keys pack completely dominated the second 40 minutes, doing to Bedwas what they have done to a string of Premiership front eights so far this season.
"We are producing the goods at the moment and we need to keep doing that," said Woods. "As a pack we have set the standard now and it is important that we keep churning out the performances.
"There are three key areas - scrum, line-out and breakdown - and if we come out on top then we have the backs to do the damage. I'm like a broken record the way I go on at the players about those three parts of the game.
"And with the likes of Lloyd Burns, Geraint Gladwyn, Ben Watkins, Colin Bridges among others, we have a group of forwards that are like animals when they are clearing out rucks.
"We have had some hard times over the past few years but it's a pleasure at the moment because all the players want to do is work. The work ethic is superb."
Like most clubs through the country, Keys will be casting a nervous eye on the skies to hope that the rain stays away so that their clash with Ponty gets the green light.
Keys have reaped the rewards of plenty of pre-season hard graft on the Pandy Park surface, the impressive pitch getting praise from plenty of visitors, and Woods is hopeful the fixture will go ahead.
He said: "We would play them on the car park if we could! What harmed us last season was all the breaks for the Six Nations and postponements.
"If we beat Pontypridd then we can go up to third or fourth and the way we are looking at it this season is to not look down but to look up.
"The win at Sardis Road was probably our best performance of the season and we will need to match it. They are a real threat up front and the pack has to deliver."
Lee Humprhreys, impre-ssive in the win at Bedwas, moves from centre to wing to accomodate Carl Pocock while Geraint Gladwyn comes in for Ben Watkins at lock and also takes over as skipper.
Dan Dark, Scott Mitch-ell, Craig Gould, Mark Curtis, Rhys Peebles and Tom Lampard also earn recalls.
Cross Keys: L Andrews, G Williams, C Pocock, D Dark, L Humphreys, S Mitchell, R James, J Price, L Burns, C Gould, M Curtis, G Gladwyn (captain), R Peebles, T Lampard, C Bridges.
Replacements: D Preece, R Miller, B Fisher, J Malpas, S Rabuli, J Leadbetter, M Johnstone.
