WELSH international fly-half Ceri Sweeney has expressed an interest in playing for Guinness Premiership strugglers Worcester Warriors.
The Newport Gwent Dragons stand-off insists he has not spoken to Worcester but admits he would like to play for the club, while Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock has made no secret of his admiration for the player.
The 28-year-old, who is out of contract at Rodney Parade at the end of this season, would compete with Samoan international Loki Crichton and James Brown for the Sixways number 10 jersey, as it looks likely Shane Drahm will be leaving the club.
Sweeney, who made the last of his 35 appearances for Wales against South Africa in November last year, played under Ruddock when the Sixways chief was in charge of the Welsh national team.
The outside-half told our sister paper the Worcester News: "I would like to play in the Guinness Premiership and I worked with Mike before.
"He did really well with Wales in the Grand Slam year and I'm sure he'll do well at Worcester and it won't be long until he gets them moving up the table.
"I've had no contact with Worcester at all so far, but I could be interested in a move to the club. Playing for Worcester would certainly be an option for me but, as I say, I've heard nothing from the club yet.
"I've been in talks with a few clubs over in England, but I have nothing concrete sorted out yet.
"I'm also still in talks with the Dragons and I'm looking to make a decision about my future in the next month.
"My next contract will decide where I am for the next three years, so it will be very important for me to get it right.
"Like I said, I'd definitely be interested to see what could be done with Worcester but, whatever happens, it has to be the right deal for me."
