WALES' 2005 Grand Slam winning captain has signed for ambitious London club Saracens on a two-year deal from the start of the 2008/09 season.
The Argus exclusively revealed today how the Newport Gwent Dragons number eight, capped 41 times by Wales including five as captain, was leaving the region with Saracens and Harlequins interested in him.
The Saracens website has just revealed the 27-year-old will join the club.
A Saracens spokesman said: "Owen is widely regarded as one of the most skilful players in the game and has an excellent pass which will see him fit in well to the Saracens expansive style of play."
Owen has been with the Dragons since they were formed in 2003.
The former Pontypridd player toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions in 2005.
He also captained the Lions when they played Argentina at the Millennium Stadium before setting off on that tour.
Owen's signing comes just a week after Saracens confirmed the news that Steve Borthwick will also be joining Saracens from next season.
