Newport Saracens v Ystrad Rhondda. Konica Minolta Cup
NEWPORT Saracens move to their new ground at last tomorrow when they face Ystrad Rhondda in the fourth round of the Konica Minolta Cup.
After a season of playing all their matches away, one game at the Whiteheads ground apart, the Saracens play at their new ground off the Southern Distributor Road, Duffryn.
But even then it could be only temporary because access problems remain and if they are not resolved the Sarries could face further problems about their new ground.
Chairman David Cain: "The club has faced legal problems and difficulties with access, electricity and water while tomorrow the teams and fans will have to go via an underpass to get to the ground.
"The delays have been horrendous, it's been appalling and every week it's been a strain for the players with them having to go away."
They have signed a 50-year lease with the council and plans are in place for a permanent clubhouse to go with the current temporary one and the dressing rooms.
The Division One East club are chasing a hat-trick tomorrow. Apart from being their first game at their new ground, they have never beaten Ystrad Rhondda and if they win it will be the fiirst time for them to reach the fifth round of the cup competition.
Making his debut for the Sarries will be flanker Jason Forster, the former Newport and Dragons captain, who has joined them for the rest of the season.
