Aberavon Quins v Blackwood. Konica Minolta Cup
BLACKWOOD are hoping to secure a high-profile tie with a Premiership side by safely negotiating a tricky clash at Aberavon Quins.
The Glan-yr-Afon Park outfit will be favourites against their hosts from Division Three South West but there is no danger of Quins being taken lightly.
Blackwood are having a superb season and though defeat to Division One East leaders Pontypool three weeks ago would seem to have burst their promotion hopes, all is looking good for a finish near the head of the table.
They have safely negotiated ties with Pencoed and Bettws and another win would put them in the hat for the last 16 and more than likely give them the chance to test their progress against Premiership opposition.
"If we can get through this one then we could maybe get a nice draw in the next round," said backs coach Jeremy Lloyd. "We said at the start of the season that we were looking for a top-six finish and a cup run and we are looking good for that.
"They are in a similar position to us in that they will be putting all their efforts in to try and get through and get a Premiership side, so we know that it will be a tough game.
"We know that they have a strong pack and they will come hard at us, especially in the front row, but it's one that we would really expect to win.
"Losing at Pontypool means that we haven't really got any chance of promotion so we will be putting everything in tomorrow."
