A SEASON'S double over eight-times champions Ton Pentre is as rare as a fine day - yet in-form Caerleon will be striving for just that when they host the Rhondda outfit at Cold Bath Road tomorrow.
Caerleon visited Ton's Ynys Park home on November 14, when goals from strikers Chris Jones and Chris Pearce helped record a magnificent 2-0 MacWhirter Welsh League Division One victory.
Now Caerleon will start without only suspended attacking midfielder Luke Cueto against the visitors, who are just a point adrift of Port Talbot-based leaders Goytre United.
The second of a three-game ban also rules out young Newport YMCA striker Mike Palmer of his side's home match against Taff Well while Cwmbran Town have 10 new signings to chose from when they travel to face struggling Maesteg Park Athletic.
Benjamin Bristow, Leon Clarke, Oliver Collins, Raney Duncan, Sosthene Guei, Tidiany Kone, Michael Makasi, Ese Oduko, Uwa Ogbodu and Ohmar Pike have all linked up with the Crows following a clear-out.
Cwmbran are seventh, Caerleon eighth and YMCA ninth. However with only one point covering all three, there could well be a new highest-placed Gwent club on Saturday.
Full-strength Caldicot Town have improved of late and currently find themselves nine points clear of the relegation zone in 13th position, although they face a difficult away challenge at Cambrian & Clydach.
Croesyceiliog are just one place and four points above the drop zone, but do have matches in hand and they'll give fitness tests to several squad members ahead of their away clash with ENTO Aberaman Athletic, whose 4-1 win at Afan Lido on Tuesday moved them up three places to fourth.
In Division Two, if promotion hopefuls Llanwern manage to play their away match at Treharris Athletic it will be their first league match since November 3.
They will be minus unavailable central defender Mike Binning and have doubts over the fitness of midfielder Steve Stinton, but welcome back another, Matthew Currie, and defender Greg Taylor - both of whom were both previously on holiday.
Cwmbran Celtic are without a match while Tredegar Town will be at full strength ahead of what is a massive game for them - a home meeting against fellow-relegation candidates Troedyrhiw.
Seventh-placed Risca United lead the way for Gwent in Division Three, although they won't be able to climb any higher even if they win at Llansawel, where they will be without suspended striker Mark Mears.
Goytre, who are 10th, will give a debut to striker Martin Houston, who has linked up from Cwmbran Town in time for the home match with Penrhiwceiber Rangers.
Unbeaten-in-six Monmouth Town, 14th, can not finalise a squad until shortly before the home meeting with 13th-placed Gwent rivals Aberbargoed Buds, who are without broken-leg midfielder Craig Morgan, while rock-bottom Abertillery Excelsiors are at full strength ahead of Merthyr Saints' visit.
