Worcester Warriors have signed Carter - Alun Carter. The former Wales international will become the new team manager at Sixways Stadium under Mike Ruddock.
Carter will take over from the retiring Tony Boddy from next season and brings with him a wealth of rugby experience.
Newport-born Carter was head of match analysis for the Wales team from August 1998 to July 2007.
His time included one Five Nations tournament involving Wales' victory over England at Wembley in 1999, seven Six Nations tournaments including Wales' Grand Slam of 2005, and two World Cups working under Kevin Bowring, Graham Henry, Steve Hansen, Gareth Jenkins and current Warriors boss Ruddock.
In 2001 he toured Australia with the Lions as technical assistant.
As a player he captained the first Grand Slam winning Wales Schools side in 1983 and went on to play as a flanker for Pontypool and Newport. He was capped twice at senior level against England and Scotland in the 1991 Five Nations.
Carter has already worked with the Warriors providing weekly analysis sessions for the squad during the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
"We're very pleased Alun has accepted the role to take over from Tony Boddy who has done such a fantastic job for the last four years," said Ruddock.
"Alun joins us with a huge amount of experience.
"He has been in a number of situations where he has had to manage teams of support staff and has also demonstrated a conscientious and methodical style. We're sure he can bring his experiences to the table and will help the Warriors move up to the next level."
